A Message from Sandy VanDyke

                              Board Seeking Newbies

As I complete my 25th year of teaching, and my 23rd year on the STANJ board, I look around
the table while at one of our two board meeting haunts; this time it was Mollie Maguire's in
Clark, which alternates with the Seven Brothers' Diner  in Montclair.

I'm happy to see my colleagues, many of whom have been on the board for several years,
too, just as animated and interested as they've always been.  Thinking about it, I once again
see the reason for this is that
we energize each other.

Board meetings are where we see other teachers who do exactly what we do...teach drama!
And considering most schools have only YOU doing just that, how often do you get such an
opportunity?

Board meetings are where we see other teachers who love exactly what we love...theatre!
It's where we can talk about Broadway's latest offerings, opportunities for our kids, how a
teacher can get the materials he/she needs for a play...you name it!!

So if you're looking to be energized at the end of a long, weary day, our STANJ board is
actually the place to do it!  Come help us run our workshops and competitions, but come
help yourself be the complete drama teacher you might long to be!

Elections for members-at-large will take place at our October  Conference, and if you think
your name should be on that ballot, please contact Wayne Bond who will be happy to assist
you in your desire!
