Program: "The 'S' in STANJ: Strategies for Teaching Communication Arts and Public Speaking Classes with an Eye towards Theatre "
|
About Workshop I:
Conference participants were involved in experiences that reinforced communication
concepts such as concentration, presentation, nonverbal communication, feedback,
interpersonal communication, and listening.
The emphasis of the workshop placed communication strategies into the context of
theatre classes. Participants also received handouts of the activities for use in class -
the answer to “What can I do on Monday?"
About Workshop II:
Following our luncheon, the celebration of STANJ’s 50th continued with a sing-along
of favorite past and current tunes from Broadway musicals. Eric Diamond, Chair-
person and Professor of Musical Theatre of the Department of Theatre and Dance at
MSU, played the piano and led our group, singing and discussing famous tunes from
some of the great Broadway Musicals
Special thanks to Dr. Wayne Bond for an inspiring and animated learning experience!
